Suspended Circle Inspector Ratna Gupta failed to secure relief from the court with the Rajasthan High Court directing her to appear before the State Assembly Privilege Committee in response to the notice/warrant by the latter.
The accused police officer, wanted by the the House Committee for hearing in a breach of privilege case, had challenged before the court the notice/warrant issued by the Committee last week.
However, the court Single Bench of Justice Mohammad Rafiq did not give relief and disposed of her petition today with directive for appearing before the Committee on/by October 29.
The Committee had on October 17 served notice to Director General of Police Harish Meena directing him to ensure to produce Circle Inspector Ratna Gupta before it on Thursday last week.
However, the DGP had not appeared before the House Committee with Ms Gupta, instead a police officer had turned up to report to the Committee that the accused officer was untraceable.
The Officer conveyed to the Committee that police had conducted raids at the Inspector's house but she could not be traced.
Then the Committee had referred to the Speaker the matter for decision and further action, in the House.
Ms Gupta had reportedly disregarded a House Committee on Women and Child/Juvenile Rights and failed to comply with its directives and show desired records/documents, during an inspection at the Gandhi Nagar Mahila police station here about two years ago when she was posted there as Incharge.
The committee had complained to the Assembly Speaker about the cop's behaviour who initiated action against her through the House privilege committee.
The Inspector had also failed to appear before the House Committee in response to earlier summons and instead she had approached the court.
In response to her complaint, the Rajasthan High Court had issued notices to the House Committee and the Assembly Secretary.
However, all party meeting convened by Speaker Deependra Singh Shekhawat on October 12 had decided not to respond to the court notices and to ask the DGP to arrest Ms Gupta and produce her before the Privilege Committee.
The accused Circle Inspector has later been placed under suspension.
