The Indira Gandhi National Open University's (IGNOU's) School of Social Sciences, Department of Economics, has revised a compulsory course from its first year Master's degree programme in Economics.
Keeping in view the fact that a lot of developments have taken place on the Indian Economic Policy front the course material needed modification.
The Economics faculty took initiatives to completely revise this course so that the students admitted to M.A (Economics) programme are enlightened with the current facts and changes in the Indian Economic Policy.
The old course bearing code no. MEC-005 (Indian Economic Policy), a compulsory course of M.A. Economics programme had been on offer during July 2005 to June 2012 and has now been replaced by newly revised course bearing code no. MEC-105 from the academic session July 2012.
The old course having course code MEC-005 stands withdrawn from July 2012.
"Students are, therefore, required to submit the assignment of MEC-105. Instructions to this effect have also been mentioned in the assignment booklet for the session 2012-13," said an IGNOU release on Thursday.
Students who are admitted for July 2012 session and have received the old course study material (i.e. MEC- 005) are required to get it changed to MEC-105 from their respective Regional Centre.
"Suitable advice in this regard has already been sent to all the Regional Centres so that the students will not face any difficulty in getting the new course material. Those who have already got the course material of MEC-105 are not required to change it," said IGNOU.
Further, at the study centres the counselling session will be organised for MEC-105.
In the term-end examination form, students are required to fill up the MEC-105 as their course code.
