Kannur MP K Sudhakaran today said the statement by the Union Minister of state for Railways K H Muniyappa about the bifurcation of Yeshwantpur-Mangalore-Kannur Express was 'irresponsible' and based on misleading facts.
Mr Sudhakaran said he and K Karunakaran, MP, would meet Union Minister for Railways and if necessary Prime Minister on the issue.
The split proposal was not suitable for people of Kerala and should not be recognized, he said, adding the services of only five coaches for Kerala was not a wise decision.
The Railways had decided to bifurcate the Yeshwantpur-Mangalore-Kannur (16517/16518) train following a Karnataka High Court order considering a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) for a night train service between Karwar and Bangalore.
