Australian PM to visit India for three days
Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard will pay a state visit to India from October 15 to 17 at the invitation of the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh.
A Ministry of External Affairs release said that during her visit, Prime Minster Gillard will hold delegation level talks with Prime Minister Singh and call on President Pranab Mukherjee on October 17, 2012.
On the same day, she will also receive External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj, besides UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
According to the release, bilateral relations between India and Australia were elevated to the level of a strategic partnership during the visit of Prime Minister Kevin Rudd to India in November 2009.
The visit of Prime Minister Gillard will lead to strengthening of the cooperative relations between the two countries, and will provide further impetus for the future development of the strategic partnership, the MEA release said.
