Facebook COO's new book about 'gender equality in workplace' set to hit stores by 2013
Facebook's chief operating officer, Sheryl Sandberg is set to seek success in dead-tree media as she gears up for the release of her new book, "Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead," which insiders say is likely to be a hit.
The book, which is about gender equality in the workplace and is an outgrowth of a popular TED talk she gave two years ago, 'Why we have too few women leaders?, is slated to hit stores in March 2013.
Published by Alfred A. Knopf, the Harvard College and Business School graduate's book will argue that true gender equality has yet to be realized in the workplace, and the world writ large.
"Progress for women in the leadership ranks of every industry has been largely stagnant for the past decade. We can and must do better. The question we all have to ask ourselves is 'How?'" the New York Daily News quoted Sandberg, as saying.
Listed as one of TIME's 100 most influential people in 2012, Sandberg is a wife and mother of two who also sits at the helm of one of the world's most famous companies.
Through her new book, she will offer insights on family, gender and ambition, aiming to motivate women to lead while achieving personal fulfillment in life.
"I wrote 'Lean In' so women can make more informed choices and increase their chances of making it to the top of any field or pursue any goal with gusto. And I wrote it for men who want to understand the challenges women face so they can do their part to build an equal world," she said.
