Renowned Kannada Film Director K C N Gowda dies
Renowned Kannada film director and distributor K C N Gowda died here today after prolonged illness.
He breathed his last on the way to hospital. He was 84.
A sericulturalist by profession, Gowda came to cinema by financing the directors in need of money. In 1970 he floated Raj Kamal company and directed 'Bale Jodi' with Dadasaheb Phalke Academy awardee late Raj Kumar and the film was a box office hit. He directed as many as 15 films which became hits including 'Huliya Halina Mevu', 'Babru Vahana'.
He was distributor of more than 300 films.
Gowda's sons K C N Chandrasekhar and K C N Mohan and wife Poornima Mohan were also film distributors.
Gowda won many awards including the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Academy award, Dr Raj Kumar award and Karnataka Film Directors Union award.
