Karnataka will file review petition in the Supreme Court on release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar said today.
Talking to reporters here, he said, "Minister for Water Resources Basavaraj Bommai is already in Delhi with officials and the review petition will be filed today and Supreme Court will be requested to take up the petition today itself." The Chief Minister appealed to the agitators not to indulge in violence and maintain peace.
"Karnataka government is committed to protecting the interests of the people of the State. We are doing our best to find a solution to the vexed issue. Please cooperate with us," he added.
Meanwhile, former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa announced that he would sit on a day-long dharna in front of Mahatma Gandhi statue here tomorrow.
Hundreds of farmers led by Kodihalli Chandrasekhar took out a procession in the City demanding the government to stop release of water.
Bangalore University students and staff members boycotted their classes and resorted to rasta roko on Bangalore-Mysore road in support of the farmers agitation against release of water.
