Women find 'ideal clothes shop' at age 57

A woman becomes an expert in shopping by the time she turns 57, according to a study.
After decades of frustrating store hunts and misguided purchases, women in their mid-50s have discovered their 'perfect' shop and know what cuts and styles truly suit them.
The 57-year-old shopper will also feel more confident in selecting clothes and is less likely to return items back to the shop, the poll conducted by shopping website www.myhigh.st found.
Women in this age group are also smarter with their spending habits and splashes out just 45.63 pounds on a once-a-month shopping trip.
They are also much better at hunting down a bargain and bolder about asking for a discount at the tills.
They shopping trips consume less time, with most only needing to visit two or three shops to buy the majority of their wardrobe, the survey of 2,000 women revealed.
Once they're inside their 'perfect' shop, they only need to try on a few items before making a decision.
And, unlike their younger counterparts, women aged 57 are also more likely to wear most of the items in their wardrobe.
"Women aged 57 might not spend an awful lot of money on clothes but they do put a lot of thought into what they are buying and there are far fewer frivolous purchases by this age," the Daily Mail quoted Niki Blackmore, of the shopping website, as saying.
Eight in ten feel they know what suits them when it comes to buying clothes, and consequently, 97 per cent usually feel good in what they have bought, according to the study.
Blackmore said: "The previous 40 or so years are spent working out what clothes are the right fit and taking advice from family and friends. But once in their mid-50s, ladies become cleverer at selecting the right clothing.
"With age comes confidence, our older respondents have come to accept their body shapes, and able to shop and dress with self-assurance," she added.
