Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today announced formation of nine new talukas and a new district for the administrative ease.
Addressing a youth convention as a part of ongoing 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanand at Mahatma Mandir here, Mr Modi said a new Vapi taluka in Valsad district is being carved out considering its industrial development.
Other new talukas include Gir Gadhda taluka from existing Una taluka in Junagadh district, a separate Netrang taluka in Bharuch district, Bodeli taluka in new Chhota Udepur district, Khergam taluka in Navsari district's Chikhli belt, Jotana and Gozaria talukas in Mehsana district, Junagadh city taluka for better revenue administration and Thangadh taluka in Surendranagar district.
He that all new talukas declared today will come to existence on January 26 next year. A committee headed by the state chief secretary will decide the modalities for the new talukas. Meanwhile, Mr Modi also announced new skill development corporation in the state and a separate urban development authority for Girnar-Bhavnath for development of periphery area of Junagadh city.
