Yesudas alleges Govt not funding project
Well known playback singer K J Yesudas today alleged that 'cochlear implant project' for hearing impaired children from poor families was not getting financial aid from the Kerala Government, which promised help.
Speaking at a function after attending the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations here, he said the Government was not committed to helping children belonging to poor families.
The project was aimed at restoring hearing ability in a number of children, especially those below three years.
The cochlear implant surgery is an effective remedy for totally deaf children. Earlier, the Government assured the singer that a 15-member committee will be constituted to prepare the details for the implementation of the scheme.
