For the Kharif season 2012-13, procurement of paddy has commenced in Haryana and a total of 20,155 tonnes of paddy has sofar arrived in various mandis of the State.
Stating this here today, a spokesman for Haryana Food and Supplies Department said out of total arrival of paddy, the maximum quantity of paddy had arrived in district Kurukshetra which was 11,948. Similarly in Ambala district received 5754 tonnes of paddy, Yamunanagar 1648 tonnes, Karnal 401 tonnes, Panchkula 234 tonnes and Kaithal 150 tonnes.
He said six government agencies have so far procured 20,101 tonnes of paddy whereas the remaining quantity of 54 tonnes was procured by mill owners.
He said major portion of it which was 8496 tonnes, had been procured by Food and Supplies Department whereas HAFED had purchased 6,505 tonnes, Haryana Warehousing Corporation 2,349 tonnes, CONFED 1400 tonnes and Haryana Agro Industries Corporation had purchased 1351 tonnes of paddy.
