The team of Sanjay Jhawar and Bhushan Musale beat 12 other teams to book a berth in the World final of the Audi quattro Cup 2012.
In the India final hosted by Audi India at the Nick Faldo desgined Wadi Course at the Emirates Golf Club here on Monday, the duo from Pune scored 38 stableford points to qualify for the World Final to be held at Arabella Golf Club, Western Cape in South Africa.
The Hyderabad team comprising of Ranadhir Reddy Gurram and Chinnababu Neerukonda lost out narrowly by a solitary point while the Ahmedabad pair of Mukesh Patel and Sandeep Ambalia edged out two other teams on a countback to finish third with 36 stableford points.
Along with the main prizes, various skill contests were held. Ashok Goenka won the Closest to Pin award while Ruchir Teli emerged as the longest driver.
The National final was a culmination of the nation-wide event conducted across 13 cities which saw a participation of over 1400 golfers.
The winning team and the runner-up team from each of the respective cities had qualified for the National final where 26 teams vied for one elite spot in the world finals.
The Audi quattro Cup tournament series, established in 1991, has become one of the most celebrated amateur golf tournaments in the world bringing together over 85000 golfers from 54 countries.
