Angola suspends seven referees for misconduct
The Angolan football association has suspended seven referees, including one with international experience, from their duty for allegedly performing unfairly in matches of the national first division league in 2012.
The referees were identified as Manuel Francisco, Osvaldo Felix, Joao Figueira, Venancio Daniel, Figueiredo da Costa, Joao Bastos (Benguela) and international Romualdo Baltazar, reports Xinhua.
The decision to suspend the referees followed a meeting of the Referees Central Council held earlier this week here but the term for the suspension or any further punishment were not disclosed.
Football is the most popular sport in Angola alongside basketball.
