Brazil beat Russia 5-0 in Davis Cup World Group playoff
Brazil completed a 5-0 series whitewash over Russia in their Davis Cup World Group playoff in Sao Jose do Rio Preto.
World No.41 Thomaz Bellucci defeated Alex Bogomolov Jr. 7-6 (4), 6-3 before Rogerio Dutra Silva overcame Stanislav Vovk 6-2, 6-2 in Sunday's reverse singles, reports Xinhua.
The result means Brazil will next year play in the elite teams competition for the first time since 2003.
"This is a dream come true," Bellucci said after his match.
"Six years ago I didn't think I would be representing Brazil in the Davis Cup or that I would be Brazil's No. 1," he recalled.
"But it has become reality. I feel comfortable playing in the Davis Cup and have been able to lift my game to another level representing Brazil."
