SPFW Day 3: Designers unveil exclusives
On the third day of Signature Premier Fashion Week Kolkata on Sunday, designers showcased their bright exclusive collections as models scorched the floor flaunting the works with poise and confidence.
Sandeep Mukherjee, a newcomer, said he was egged on by many senior designers and drew inspiration from celebrities to come up with his show.
He was inspired by khadi with different styles of garments like tunic, ladies and gents serwani, shirts, ladies gown etc. The colours that he has used are black, maroon, antic apart from the original colour of khadi.
Mansha Modi's collection is all about tradition with a modern in approach with wonderful colours like electric red, electric blue and bright yellow.
Her style of dresses were like flowee skirts, jackets, short hot pants. Keeping in mind the upcoming season she has used white apart from the bright colours.
An eye catching style that she has used is stripe printed spectacles which gave a splendid look with stripe printed dresses.
Susan Mantosh, the renowned designer said that her fashion is her passion. Apart from designing clothes this time she has come to showcase her unique and exclusive designs on pearls which according to her is 4000 years old eternal tradition.
She mainly wanted to highlight different types of pearl. She took the theme of Egypt. She has also used Bengali Tant.
The styles are stencilling, block printing. She has made 250 designs of jewelleries in the international market. She has used applique on tant.
Different shapes of pearls were her another style of jewellery. Raima Sen was the showstopper in her show.
Designers Abhiskek Surana and Surbhi Pansari worked on wonderful designs including fabrics, with bright colours.
Abhishek's style is mainly based on bridal collection. Surbhi focused on western dresses.
Sumit Dasgupta came to showcase his latest design named Swarvamangala. He has worked on Bengali Durga Puja Dasami tradition of "sindur khela". The colours of the garments he has used are like green, blue, peacock green, white with embroidery designs on lahenga, jardousi sarees, serwani which velvet based with dark purple.
Jorjet, chiffons, net were the styles of sarees.
The Fashion Week Kolkata, initiated by Genesis Square, functions as a creative outlet to showcase innovative designs and has established itself as a networking ground for designers.
