Sony India eyes Rs. 340 cr festive sales

Sony India is targetting the Durga Puja boom period in eastern India to scale up its revenues, especially with the planned launch of its new Bravia Ex series with promotional offers.

The company with its long standing reputation of being the premium brand in the market expects Rs.340 crore sales in Aug-Nov '12, targeting a growth rate of 48pc over corresponding period last year.

"Durga Puja is an important festival for Sony and we are ensuring that our customers get maximum advantage during the festive season, through our exciting promotional offers. We expect Durga Puja festive period to contribute 37pc to the total sales of East India in FY12," said Sunil Nayyar, Senior General Manager Sales, Sony India.

The flagship brand Bravia that has come up with the new Ex Series in varying screen sizes also offers features such as Photo Frame, FM Radio, Motionflow XR-100Hz technology and Mobile High definition link.

Not limiting to these, the Sony India is all set to woo the customers during this festive season with a wide range of offers on Bravia Televisions, Alpha cameras, Cyber-shot cameras, Handycam video cameras, Procam Video Cameras, DAV and Blu-ray Home Theater Systems, Mini Hifi and Macro- Hifi Systems, Blu-ray players, Playstation, VAIO notebooks, Tablets and Xperia mobile phones.

Customer can participate in the newly introduced lucky draw called "This festive season Bond with Sony" which is in sync with the bond movie "Skyfall" scheduled to release on Nov 2, but on the purchase of selective products from authorized dealers, informed Nayyar.

As a festive bonanza, Sony ensured the customers that the products would go light on pockets and an extended warranty period of upto two years from purchase offered as well.

Claiming the best picture quality, monolithic design, internet TV and 3D TV, Bravia alone strives to acquire a lion's share of the eastern market in this segment with a figure as high as 40pc share of Flat Panel Display market by selling 67,000 units of Bravia in Aug-Nov '12.

Providing insights on marketing strategy, Nayyar declared that Rs.20 crore would be invested towards ATL and BTL activities.

Sony also plans to increase the counter share ot 850 outlets, up from 700 outlets in FY11 to reach a wider customer base in East India, added the official.

Extending the greetings for the festival ahead,the new model Bravia EX series was unveiled at the launch by Sunil Nayyar in the presence of city model Satarupa.
