The government on Thursday increased the limit of sending Short Message Service (SMS) and Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) across the country to twenty from five.
The government increased the limit with immediate effect on Thursday.
Mobile phone users could send a maximum to 20 text messages in one go from their cellphones.
Users could also send more than 25KB of data through their mobile phones from Thursday.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on August 17 banned bulk SMS and MMS across the country for 15 days in the wake of mass exodus of people belonging to Northeast region of the country from different cities following rumours.
