Salma Hayek has stepped forward to back Halle Berry's decision to move to France to raise her daughter, saying it is a safer place to raise celebrity kids.

The 'Monster's Ball' star wants to move her 4-year-old daughter, Nahla, to the Paris, but her former partner Gabriel Aubry is against her move.

Berry suffered a minor setback going into trial Thursday, but reportedly had a secret celebrity weapon locked and loaded in her battle to move her daughter to Paris.

According to a source, Hollywood pal Hayek submitted a confidential court declaration on her behalf, arguing that France is a safer place for celebrity spawn, the New York Daily News reported.

Hayek, 45, is married to French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault, and she reportedly told the judge France has tougher paparazzi laws than the US - rules that make her feel much safer when she's out in public with daughter Valentina.
