BSE Sensex ends flat
The BSE Sensex fell 0.02 percent on Friday, closing flat as gains in stocks of India's flagship software services sector were countered by declines in a handful of blue chip stocks over disappointing quarterly results.
The 30-share benchmark index ended 3.13 points lower at 17,557.74 with 17 of its components closing in the red.
The broader 50-share National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty index ended 0.05 percent or 2.55 points lower at 5,320.40 on Friday.
Hopes of a revival in demand triggered a rise in stocks of software service exporters such as Infosys but the gains were offset by a dip in State Bank of India and Tata Motors on their quarterly earnings while a dip in Asian stocks also dampened sentiment.
