Couple arrested in Uttar Pradesh murder case
A woman and her lover from the city were arrested by police in connection with the murder of former's husband in Uttar Pradesh.
Acting on a tip-off, police arrested the absconder couple, Nilam Dubey and her lover Raj Lakhwani, last night.
The woman was allegedly involved in murder of her husband Mahendrasingh Varma, a goldsmith in Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh.
Gosaganj Police had registered a case that Mahendrasingh was missing since April 28, and later they found his body with multiple injuries on May 6 in Gosaiganj.
Gosaiganj (Sultanpur district of UP) Police was looking after the deceased's wife Nilam and her lover Raj Lakhwani in the said murder case.
Inspector General of Police (Rajkot Range) got the information that the eloped couple was living in Jamnagar and then in Rajkot.
The city police made surveillance in the city and caught the couple last night and informed the UP Police about their arrest, the police sources said.
Preliminary investigations of the couple revealed that Nilam was working in Rajkot as a manager in a two-wheeler showroom while Raj was working in a private factory here.
Nilam stated that she was earlier working with the Delhi Abhi Tak News Channel as a journalist, while her father was Bureau Chief of UP Jain Channel and her mother was working with the Sahara News Channel, police said.
Further investigations were on, they added.
