ATS, STF Commandos to guard I-Day function in Uttar Pradesh

Commandos of the Anti-Terrorist Squad(ATS) and Special Task Force(STF) of Uttar Pradesh police would be deployed to man the security on the Independence Day function here when Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav would hoist the national tri-colour for the first time on August 15.

The state police have made elaborate security arrangements here and at other places in the state in view of the threat perception by the anti-national forces on Independence Day.

"Commandos of the ATS and STF would be deployed in Lucknow at the Vidhan Sabha while the entire Secretariat would be sealed one day before the function," said Inspector General of Police (law and order ) B P Singh here today.

He said three-stage security system would be enforced at the function in Lucknow and at all the districts for the Independence Day function.

"DGP has also issued a circular to all the districts to check all the hotels and lodges, besides additional security is put in place at railway stations and bus stations. Frisking would be held at sensitive points," the IG said.

Mr Singh said additional security arrangements have been made in Mathura and Vrindavan for the Janmashtami festival, besides in Lucknow, security has been beefed up for the upcoming Ramzan processions next week.
