US gurdwara shooting: Badals seek PM's intervention
Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal have described yesterday's firing incident in a US Gurdwara as 'deeply painful, shocking and highly condemnable'.
The Chief Minister has urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to intervene in the matter immediately and ask the US authorities to ensure security of devotees and the sanctity of the religious shrines all across America.
An official spokesman said that the Deputy Chief Minister was monitoring the situation in New Delhi and would take up the issue with the Central Government today.
He was getting updates on the shooting incident in Oak Creek, which left seven people dead and around 30 wounded, from the party and other sources in the US.
