US gurdwara incident: Badals urge PM to intervene
Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal have described the firing incident in a Gurdwara in Oak Creek in USA as "deeply painful, shocking and highly condemnable"
The Chief Minister has urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to intervene in the matter immediately and ask the US authorities to ensure security of devotees and the sanctity of the religious shrines all across America.
An official spokesman said that Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal was monitoring the situation in New Delhi and would take up the issue with the Central Government today.
He was getting updates on the incident from the party and other sources in the US.
