AIIMS like hospital in Allahabad soon
Decks have been cleared by the Centre for setting up a super-specialty hospital in the city of Sangam at par with All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS).
This would be the second such hospital after the first one was approved in Rae Bareli, the Parliamentary constituency of Congress president Sonia Gandhi. The Uttar Pradesh government has already sanctioned land for the AIIMS at Rae Bareli.
Now the Centre has sanctioned Rs 150 crore under Prime Minister Health Service scheme for upgradation of Motilal Nehru Medical College and Hospital.
Samajwadi Party(SP) national general secretary and Allahabad MP Rewati Raman Singh said here today that work for acquiring land for the above purpose and construction of the new hospital would be entrusted with the Public Works Department(PWD).
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Planning Commission Deputy chairman, Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad for taking personal interest in the project, Mr Singh said the hospital would be equipped with state of the art technology and facilities, which would be handled by specialists from different fields.
The upcoming hospital would provide best treatment to patients from Allahabad and other nearby districts at affordable costs.
The SP MP said there was no problem of land in the city as there were enough land in the Naini industrial area which could be used for the new super-specialty hospital.
