Flood threat looms large on Uttar Pradesh districts
Flood threat was looming large on hundreds of villages in Gonda and its nearby areas following overflowing Ghagra and Saryu rivers in Uttar Pradesh.
According to weather office today, monsoon was active in east UP and some other parts of the state.
Several villages of Gonda, Ayodhya, Tarabganj, Jaunpur and Shahganj were facing deluge threat due to heavy rains.
In the past 24 hours, Gonda recorded 17 cms rainfall, followed by Ayodhya 16 cms, Jaunpur 15 cms, Kakardari ghat 14 cms and Shahganj 9 cms.
As many as 1.5 lakh people of 110 villages were facing flood threat due to overflowing Ghagra and Saryu rivers and release of water from Nepal.
In Barabanki, flood waters had inundated 12 villages. The district administration has completed all arrangements to handle flood situation.
Heavy rains has also posed problem to commuters on Gonda-Barabanki road.
