Mumbai, KSCA Colts prevail
KSCA Colts and Mumbai Cricket Association registered outright victories to head their respective groups after two matches in the Shafi Darashah Trophy cricket tournament here Friday.
The Colts completed a comfortable five-wicket win against Bangladesh 'A' as an unbeaten 54 by Kaunian Abbas helped the home team to attain the target of 120 even as off-spinner Shohag Gazi took all the five wickets that fell.
The Colts picked up five points to take their tally to eight to move to the top of Group A.
In Mysore, Mumbai too earned five points following their nine-wicket win over Hyderabad CA to move to the top of Group A with 11 points from two outings.
Hyderabad were virtually out of contention in the match after making only 164 in their first innings to which Mumbai replied with 363 for a sizeable lead. In their second essay, Hyderabad were all out for 269 and Mumbai easily achieved the target with nine wickets to spare.
In another game at Mysore, Rajasthan Cricket Academy took a 192-run lead as they replied with 465 all out against KSCA President's XI who earlier were dismissed for 273 and in their second innings, the home team were 143 for no loss.
For Rajasthan, Hemant Kanitkar top scored with 92 while Raman Chahar (75), Deepak Chahar (62) chipped in with useful half-centuries.
The KSCA team batted better in their second innings with openers Rahul KL (89 batting) and Karun Nair (50 batting) going strong.
In Alur, KSCA XI were ahead by 13 runs on the first innings with one wicket to spare against Baroda CA who were all out for 354.
Bangalore: Bangladesh 'A' 110 all out in 40.5 overs and 232 all out in 68.2 overs lost to KSCA Colts 223 all out in 65.5 overs and 120 for 5 in 38.1 overs (Kaunian Abbas 54 not out, Shohag Gazi 5/64) by 5 wickets.
Alur: Baroda CA 354 all out in 120.2 overs vs KSCA XI 367 for 9 in 148 overs (Ganesh Satish 64, K Gowtham 52, Rajoo Bhatkal 74, Bharghav Bhat 3/88, Ketul Patel 4/118, Firdosh Bhaja 2/86).
Mysore: Hyderabad CA 164 all out in 43.3 overs and 269 all out in 82.3 overs (B Sandeep 47, A Quadri 87, Abhishek Nayar 3/42, R Prabhu 3/60) lost to Mumbai CA 363 all out in 99 overs and 74 for 1 in 15.5 overs by 9 wickets.
