A two-day conclave of the BJP leaders, mostly comprising party's core committee for Uttar Pradesh, will be held in Agra to discuss the strategy for the next Lok Sabha elections scheduled for 2014.

The conclave termed as 'chintan baithak', will be held on August 5 and 6 and will also be attended by party national president Nitin Gadkari besides former party presidents Rajnath Singh and Murli Manohar Joshi and party incharge and national general secretary Narendra Singh Tomar.

BJP state spokesperson Vijay Bahadur Pathak has confirmed to UNI about the proposed meeting of the senior leaders in Agra to discuss about the 2014 LS elections and other issues.

The presence of the Leaders of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley respectively were also expected in the meeting. Former state presidents and leaders of the lesgislative wings and the incumbents and members of the core committee will also attend the conclave.

Such a conclave was previously held in Ghaziabad in January 2011 which deliberated on 2012 UP Assembly elections. The leadership is well aware that to regain power at the Centre, the party has to vastly improve its performance in the state and take its tally of 10 MPs to a much higher number, sources say.
