Gujarat promotes itself before Bengali tourists
Kolkata, July 15 : Gujarat is making all out effort to hold the momentum of huge tourist inflow after it launched a worldwide campaign featuring Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan, said a top official of the state tourism department here on Saturday.
With the Travel and Tourism Fair (TTF) - one of the biggest travel shows in India - now on in Kolkata, Gujarat Tourism organized a road-show here to promote state's upcomingfestivals and tourist destinations.
"Gujarat Tourism ismaking all-out efforts to maintain the momentum this year with the promotion ofits upcoming events, such as Saputara Monsoon Fest, Taranetar Fair, NavratriFestival and Rann Utsav all over the country," said Sanjay Kaul, the Managing Director of Tourism Corporation ofGujarat Limited and Commissioner of Tourism.
He claimed that 'Khushboo GujaratKi' campaign featuring Big B is spreading all over the world.
Kaul said: "The number of tourists visiting Gujarat has increased by 54 lakh in two years after the ad campaign waslaunched. The state is making inroads into the market for tourism industry inthe country."
"The most important concern for any tourist is the safetyaspect. Gujarat from eternal times has beenknown for its hospitable and warm hearted people which naturally become aperfect setting for tourism to grow and prosper."
The officials claimed that the upcoming Saputara MonsoonFestival, Navratri Festival and Rann Utsav will be huge attractions fortourists.
"For the tourists we are also focusing on the culturalactivities of the state, so that the tourists can have a taste of the localculture."
Committed to continue with its growth in leisure industry,Gujarat Tourism is also providing training for the tour operateres.
Kaul also mentioned that recently Gujrat Tourism hasreceived a special grant of Rs. 1,200 crore for a coastal tourism developmentproject in the state, from the Planning Commission of India.
