Tiruchirapalli, Jul 14 : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa is making all efforts to ensure that state gets the 'numero uno' status in all the fields in the country through her prestigious 'Vision-2023' document, State Education and Sports and Youth Welfare Minister N R Sivapathy. said here today.
Speaking after flagging off the Tiruchchirappalli-Tirunelveli-Tiruchchirappalli Intercity Express (Daily), the Minister also said Ms Jayalalithaa proposed to implement the Vision-2023 document at an estimated cost of Rs 15,00,000 crore of which a sum of Rs 3,70,000 crore will be meant for traffic improvement and Rs 1,32,000 crore made available as state government's share in the railway projects across the state.
In his address, Tiruchirapalli DMK Rajya Sabha Member N Siva expressed his concern over the absence of the top officials of the Southern Railway Headquarters, Chennai at today's function and said it was very unfortunate, he added.
He appealed to the Union Railway Minister to introduce daily daytime express trains between Tiruchirapalli and Bangalore.
Mr Siva also expressed his concern over the Railway Ministry's 'lethargic' attitude for not complying with people's popular demand for terminating the existing Kumbakonam-Chennai Egmore Rockfort Express Train at its original departure station of Tiruchirapalli.
