Social security schemes' benefits to be available online: Madhya Pradesh CM

Bhopal, Jul 11 : Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said role of information technology (IT) is important in ensuring equitable and just behaviour with every person in the state.

"Online process is being encouraged for making administrative system more transparent and responsive.

Outstanding works have been done in the fields of e-procurement and recruitment," he said while addressing 'IT Award for Excellence in e-Governance Programme' here yesterday, an official release said.

Efforts are being made at a rapid pace to make gram panchayats, e-panchayats and extension of social security schemes online.

On the occasion, patwari Brijesh Kumar, who is posted in Shivpuri district, was honoured with Special Jury Award. He was given Rs 50,000 and a citation. Besides, Mr Chouhan gave awards to winners of various categories of IT Award for Excellence in e-Governance. Forest Minister Sartaj Singh, Agriculture Minister Ramkrishna Kusmaria, Madhya Pradesh Housing Board Chairman Rampal Singh, Chief Secretary R Parasuram and a large number of distinguished citizens were present.

He said Madhya Pradesh was among five top states of the country in the field of e-governance. Maximum use of video-conferencing facility in the country is being made in Madhya Pradesh.

Claiming that Madhya Pradesh, which was once regarded as a backward state, has now gained a fast momentum of development, Mr Chouhan said the state had registered 12 per cent growth rate and 18 per cent agriculture growth rate.

He said the Public Service Guarantee Act has been implemented in the state to deliver services within a set timeframe. Provision has also been made to penalise those not delivering services within time-limit. He informed that state's efforts have been honoured by United Nations. It was also widely praised in Singapore.

Information Technology Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya emphasised that IT's role was vital in ensuring transparency and controlling corruption in government functioning.
