Administration to take action against convicted employees
Chandigarh, Jul 10 : The Chandigarh Administration has directed all the departments to take immediate action against the convicted employees in accordance with the judgment pronounced by the Supreme Court.
In a meeting held recently under the chairmanship of Mr K K Sharma, Adviser to the Administrator-cum-Chief Vigilance Officer, Chandigarh, strict instructions have been issued to all the departments to take necessary action in pending cases of employees convicted on criminal charges.
The Supreme Court has categorically held that the conduct of an employee which has led to his/her conviction on a criminal charge is relevant and on finding such employee guilty of such charge, it may not be advisable to retain such people in service. Pursuant to the judgment,the Department of Personnel,Chandigarh Administration has issued instructions that the employees found guilty of corruption and other serious charges are not fit to be retained in service.
The departments of the Chandigarh Administration have been directed to supply the case-wise information of the employees convicted on account of criminal charges and to expedite action in such matters.
