Chennai, Mar 20 : Amidst the scenario of agitations by various sections over the Sri Lankan Tamils issue and in the aftermath of the opposition DMK withdrawing from the UPA government at the Centre, the stage is set for the Budget session of Tamil Nadu Assembly from tomorrow.

Finance Minister O Pannerselvam is scheduled to present the Budget for 2013-14 at 1030 hrs tomorrow, on the first day itself. And in the scenario of the forthcoming general elections scheuled early next year, the anticipation about the budget is on possible allocation of more funds for the welfare schemes that the AIADMK government, which returned to power in 2011, has been implementing. This holds good especially for the Rs 200.09 crore scheme to construct 2,775 houses for the marginalised sections. This was announced by the Tamil Nadu Governor in his address on the opening day of the previous session of the House on February 1 this year.

As the state government is grappling with severe power crisis, it also remains to be seen if the budget would have allocations to purchase power from other states or for new power projects.
