KELTRON SAR Beacon saves lives of 4 fishermen
Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 20 : With the help of Search And Rescue Beacon, manufactured and supplied by Keltron with the technology support from ISRO, Indian Coast Guard saved the lives of four fishermen from a capsized boat at sea near Vizhinjam.
The first alert reported to the Indian Mission Control Centre (INMCC) by Kerala Fisheries Dept was on March 16, 2013, an official press release said today.
The boat capsized due to collision with another unknown fishing boat, near Vizhinjam.
The distress was known immediately with the support of 406 MHz beacon and Search and Rescue action has been initiated by Coast Guard with the coordination of Marine Enforcement, Neendakara, it added.
