14-day judicial custody for Bitty
Kannur, Kerala Mar 20 : Payannur JFCM today remanded Bitty Mohanty, convicted for raping a German National in 2006 in Rajasthan and later jumping parole,to 14 days judicial custody and sent him to special sub-jail here.
Earlier, the Special investigation team (SIT) probing charges of impersonation, cheating and forgery against Bitty, produced him before the court at 1530 hrs after completion of ten-day police custody.
Magistrate M Smitha also said the application of SIT, led by Thaliparamba DySP K S Sudharshan, seeking additional ten-day police custody for interrogation and taking Bitty Mohanty to Odisha and Andhra would be considered tomorrow.
The Production Warrant submitted by Rajasthan Police was valid till tomorrow. So, the Rajasthan police have to produce a fresh warrant to take him in their custody.
DySP Sudharshan told UNI there was no information about this from the Rajasthan Police so far and they would wait for a few more days, to complete the investigation from Odisha and Andhra Pradesh by SIT.
Bitty Mohanty was working as probationary officer with the State Bank of Travancore (SBT) under the name Raghav Rajan when he was caught.
He was sentenced to seven years imprisonment for raping a 26-year-old German national in 2006 and had jumped parole in the same year.
