Bangalore, Mar 20 : National Backward Class Commission Chairman M N Rao today opined there should be reservation as long as there is inequality in the Society.

Speaking at a conference organised in connection with Opposition Leader in Karnataka Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah's 40 years in political life here, he said though backward classes are becoming strong economically, as long as social inequality prevails in the society the reservation should continue.

Mr Rao regretted saying that though there is constitution which ensures social justice, it was not implemented properly.

He said Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes are getting reservation facilities but other backward class people, who are large in number, are not getting justice according to their population and hence, they remain backward in education, economically and in politics.

Stating equality can be brought if there is equal distribution of reservation in administration and politics, since majority of opinion is in favour of social inequality, it is a dangerous development, he alleged.

Janapeetha Awardee U R Ananthmurthy, in his address, came down heavily on BJP for favouring Gujrat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister candidate. 'I will fight against Mr Modi becoming Prime Minister, he added.
