India ARC lifts International Polo Cup

Mumbai, Mar 18 : India ARC beat Argentina Arandu, lifting the YES BANK International Polo Cup, scoring 6-3.

Samir Suhag and Dhruvpal Godara scored 3 goals each for India ARC while Dr. Juan Jose Araya scored all 3 goals for Argentina Arnadu.

The match was held on Saturday at the ARC Polo Grounds, Mahalaxmi Race Course.

This is the second year of the YES BANK International Polo Cup and the second consecutive year that the Indian ARC team walked away with the trophy.

YES BANK, India’s fourth largest private sector Bank, partnered with the Amateur Riders’ Club (ARC), one of the oldest and largest private civilian horse riding clubs in India, for the International Polo Cup match between India ARC and Argentina.



Hosted by Rana Kapoor, Founder, Managing Director & CEO, YES BANK; Praful Patel, Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises was the Chief Guest for the evening, while Tomás Ferrari, Consul General of The Argentine Republic in Mumbai was the Guest of Honour at the event.

The event was also attended by the likes of Vinod Khanna, Yukta Mookhey, Milind Soman, Zavaray Poonawalla, Delna Poonawalla, Indu Shahani, Tulip Joshi, Captain Vinod Nair, Monica Vaziralli, Vinod Advani, Milan Luthria, Kailash Surendranath, Nisha Jamwal, Reena Shah, Dolly Thakore, Jamal Mecklai, Malti Jain and Sofia Hayat among many others.

Speaking on the occasion, Rana Kapoor said, “Polo is truly the ‘Sport of Kings’ that has gained significant momentum over the last few decades and we at YES BANK truly believe in supporting and promoting sporting activities that showcase our country’s abundant and diverse talent, and I am happy to see that ARC is making significant efforts of bringing Polo to Mumbai.”

Polo being an interesting outdoor sporting opportunity combining speed, fitness and animal connect, is drawing more young Indians to develop broader sporting interests.

"We are confident of making rapid strides in our efforts to popularize the growing sport of riding as footfalls to the eagerly awaited Mumbai Polo season increase each year”.

The Argentina-Arandu, Polo Team featured Juan Jose Araya, Marcelo Araya , Enrique Jose Miles, Alejandro Savage and the Indian Polo Team featured Samir Suhag, Dhruvpal Godara, Mitesh Mehta and Dinyar Madon.
