Jewellery, cash worth Rs 1 cr stolen
Kannur,Kerala, Mar 15 : Three kg of gold ornaments, six kg silver ornaments and Rs two lakh were looted at two jewellery shops located at Bellard Road, near Kannur Town, today.
The total value of the stolen valuables were put at Rs one core.
According to police, about 3 kg gold, 4.5 kg silver and Rs 2.10 lakh were burgled from Durga Jewellery owned by one K C Purushthoman and 1.5 kg silver was burgled from C H Kunhikannan Silver Jewellery, which was located near the Durga Jewellery.
The burglary was suspected to have taken place in the early hours today and was noticed this morning when the staff came to open at around 0800 hrs, police said.
The burglars entered the Durga Jewellery by breaking the grills using gas cutter and later gained entry into the strong room and locker.
In the case of KunhiKannan Jewellery they broke open the front iron gate by using the gas cutter and also the locker.
Top police officials, dog squad and forensic officers visited the spot for investigation, police said.
