Law students call off fast
Puducherry, Mar 15 : The students of Dr Ambedkar governemnt law college here who were on a fast unto death on the Sri Lankan issue, called off their agitation on the fifth day today.
This followed the talks held with them by ministers Rajavelu and Thyagarajan with the students today.
Two sections of the Law college students embarked on the fast demanding that the Government of India should support the UN resolution against Sri Lanka and Chief Minsiter N Rangasamy should adopt a resolution in the territorial assembly pressing the centre to support the UN resolution. While six students were on a fast unto death on the beach road another nine were on a relay fast in front of the new bus stand.
The students had blocked the Chief Minister's car yesterday and put forth the demand that a resolution be adopted in the Puducherry assembly beginning on March 18.
