Power tariff to be increased by 6.9 per cent from April 1
Patna, Mar 15 : Bihar Electricity Regulatory Commission (BERC) has approved the increase of power tariff by 6.9 per cent from April 1, 2013 which would fetch additional revenue of Rs 241.18 Crores.
Chairman of BERC U N Panjiyar said that attempt had been made to lessen the shock of tariff increase to consumers as much as possible and keeping this factor under consideration, the commission had approved only 6.9 per cent increase in tariff rate to be effective from April 1.
"Bihar State Power Holding Corporation Limited(BSPHCL) would get additional revenue of Rs 241.18 Crores as a result of increase in tariff rate," Mr Panjiyar said adding that net revenue gap of Rs 595.66 Crores had been approved by the commission considering government subsidy out of which Rs 241.18 Crores would be met by about 6.9 per cent increase in overall tariff and rest Rs 354.48 Crores was approved as regulatory assets.
