BSF jawan shot dead in Sitamarhi

Sitamarhi, Mar 14 : Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was shot dead by unidentified criminals at Madhuban village under Pupari police station area in this district of Bihar late last night.

Police said here that armed criminals barged into the house of BSF jawan Surendra Paswan and opened fire on him while he was asleep resulting in his death.

"Criminals managed to escape from the spot and raids were being carried out to nab them," police said, adding that motive behind the killing was being investigated.

Local police faced protest from the villagers after the incident, and officer in-charge of Pupari police station Rita Kumari sustained minor injuries in the incident.

Slain BSF jawan was deployed in Chhattisgarh and had come to Madhuban village on leave. Investigation was on.
