Goldsmith decamps with Rs 1.5 crore
Nashik, Mar 14 : A goldsmith decamped with cash of Rs 1.5 crore after defrauding women, who were promised jewellery in Satpur MIDC,here, police said.
The absconding goldsmith Sachin Udavant of 'Nakshatra Jewellers'took monthly instalments of Rs 1000 to Rs 2000 and promised to give gold jewellery after a year. Hundreds of women paid him the instalments. Other women pawned their jewellery and placed orders for jewellery.
Hundreds of women, led by corporator Salim Shaikh, last evening went to the Satpur police station and made a complaint.
Police are investigating the case and are on look-out for the goldsmith.
