Chelsea Clinton buying USD 10.5m apartment on Madison Square Park
New York, Mar 15 : Chelsea Clinton and her husband, Marc Mezvinsky, are in talks to buy a sleek, 10.5 million-dollar apartment overlooking Madison Square Park.
The 5,000-square-foot pad, in The Whitman at 21 E. 26th St., is just a few blocks from the couple's rented Gramercy Park loft.
Sources said that staying nearby was a top priority for the pair, the New York Daily News reported.
Last Sunday, Clinton, 33, and her husband, 35, planned to take a hush-hush tour of the New Georgian-style pre-war with her parents, former President Bill Clinton and ex-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Sources said that the couple arranged a private tour of the building with Clinton's parents last Sunday and were surprised to find hardhats at work on a gut renovation.
But when they showed up, the building was swarming with construction workers, a source said.
The former first family wasn't ruffled, though, and shook hands and posed for pictures with the awestruck workers, the source said.
The apartment has four-bedroom and five-and-a-half bathrooms.
The bathrooms are Italian marble, and the building features a gym and an elevator.
Clinton and Mezvinsky were impressed by the quiet block and tight security, a source said.
The living room has views of the north end of Madison Square Park, and there is a private gym downstairs.
