India steadfast in its support to Nepal: PM
New Delhi, March 14 : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Thursday said India remains steadfast in its support to the people of Nepal in their effort to build a stable, democratic and prosperous country.
In his congratulatory message to Khil Raj Regmi, chairman of the cabinet of the interim government of Nepal, Manmohan Singh commended the people and political parties of the neighbouring country on reaching an agreement.
"The election represents an important step in taking forward the political process in Nepal for consolidating the democratic gains and institutionalising multi-party democracy in the country," he said.
He also extended any assistance required for the successful conduct of the elections.
"India remains steadfast in its support to the people of Nepal in their effort to build a stable, democratic and prosperous Nepal," he said.
India's External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid congratulated Madhav Prasad Ghimire, Nepal's minister for home and foreign affairs.
