Maharashtra Council adjourned briefly
Mumbai, Mar 12 : Maharashtra Legilsative Council chairman Shivajirao Deshmukh adjourned the House today briefly for 15 minutes as the opposition members peeved over unsatisfactory reply given by water supply minister Sunil Tatkare resorted to sloganeering against government.
While replying to a question raised by Dr Ranjit Patil and others about irregularity in allotment of repair works of Arunawati river project, Mr Tatkare said that due to urgency, his department allotted the project work without seeking any tenders.
At that time, Leader of the Opposition Vinod Tawde showed a letter written by social justice minister Shivajirao Moghe to the water supply department in this regard, when Mr Tatkare failed to give a satisfactory reply to it, the opposition members started shouting slogans against government and demanded justice.
Amidst the din, the chairman called for another question to be tabled, but the opposition members continued with their sloganeering, following which Mr Deshmukh adjourned the House for 15 minutes.
When the House re-assembled, Mr Tatkare read out the contents from the letter of Mr Moghe and assured the House that in case of any irregularity in allotting the project work, the department would take action against the concerned person.
