Oppn stages walk-out in Raj Assy over nepotism in recruitment
Jaipur, Mar 14: The Opposition members in Rajasthan Assembly today alleged irregularities, favouritism/nepotism in appointments in the Jai Narain Vyas University Jodhpur and staged a walk-out to lodge their protest.
The issue was raised by Mr Babu Singh Rathore(BJP) in the Question Hour.
The member sought an explanation from Minister of State for Higher Education on alleged recruitment of some incumbents as lecturers without the prescribed qualification.
However, the minister remained non-commital saying that the matter was sub-judice.
This agitated Mr Rathore and other members in the Opposition Benches who joined in the issue and charged the government with corruption and favouritism.
Leader of the Opposition Gulab Chand Kataria claimed that in the process of recruitment, certain candidates having links
with higher ups got appointment from back door without requisite qualification and eligibility.
This was refuted by the treasury benches.
Government Chief Whip Raghu Sharma was even involved in verbal clashes with Mr Kataria and BJP Whip Rajendra Singh Rathore.
This continued and members, dissatisfied with the government's non-reponse, proceeded into the well and raised slogans.
Speaker Deependra Singh Shekhawat advised Leader of the Opposition to ask members to take their seats as nothing, spoken in the well, was being recorded.
Later, members took their seats and Mr Kataria rose to deliver his statement.
However, soon some observation by him agitated Mr Sharma and they again clashed verbally
prompting the opposition MLAs to again mob in the well.
This continued for sometime and then ended with a walk-out by BJP, CPM members and Independent MLA Ranvir Pahelwan.
