Assembly adjourned over Advocate general's statement
Mumbai, Mar 14: Maharashtra Legislative Assemby was adjourned for the day today amidst pandemonium which prevailed for quite some time over the issue of the state Advocate General's affidavit.
The opposition, led by Leader of the Opposition Eknath Khadse and others, alleged that the Advocate General recently submitted his affidavit in the High Court by stalling arguments on water situation in Marathwada and Vidarbha.
The opposition also alleged that the Advocate General said that it was not esential to always follow the guidelines of the Governor on the issue of irrigation.
The Speaker tried to calm down the legislators, who were on their feet, particularly on the issue that Advocate General was challenging the orders of Governor on the issue of irrigation.
The opposition, who were asking for regional imbalance, took up the issue. This issue led to adjournment of the Assembly for the day.
