Flights hit as fire breaks out in Chennai Airport ATC
Chennai, Mar 12 : Domestic and International flight operations at the Chennai Airport were badly affected since early this morning after a major fire broke out at the Air Traffic Control (ATC).
Sources said at 0230 hrs, the fire started at the third floor of the ATC, where landing and take off of aircraft were co-ordinated, after an UPS burst.
The sparks soon led to a fire which spread to the other computers in the floor which was soon engulfed by smoke.
Five fire engines soon rushed to the spot and doused the flames even as the incoming Dubai-Chennai Emirates Flight was diverted to Bangalore Airport.
