Kolkata, Mar 12 : Senior CPI(M) MLA and former state minister Anisur Rahaman today tendered an apology in the Assembly for his adverse remarks against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in a public meeting in December last year.

"I am tendering an unconditional apology for my comments against the Chief Ninister," Mr Rahaman told the House.

However, Mr Rahaman said a portion of his comments were 'judged' and it was not objectionable 'in totality.'

Earlier, Speaker Biman Banerjee allowed the breach of privilege notice submitted by the Trinamool Congress and asked Mr Rahaman to tender an apology.

Later, interacting with mediapersons, Commerce and Industries Minister Partha Chatterjee said "Mr Rahaman's comments against the Chief Minister were highly objectionable. But, we are treating the matter as closed as he has tendered an apology in the House."

At a meeting in Itahar of North Dinajpur on December 26 last, Mr Rahaman had made some adverse comments against Ms Banerjee that raised an outcry.
