Rural development agency to be set up in Manipur
Imphal, Mar 12 : Manipur government will set up Manipur StateRural Development Agency (MSRDA) soon to ensure effective inplemenation of MGNREGES and IAY. The state Cabinet took the decision in a meeting held here yesterday.
Education Minister M Okendro said as soon as the agency is set
up, it will directly deal with the functioning of the two flagship programmes of the Central government. Manipur is doing
well in MGNREGS and Union Rural Development had recommended establishment of the agency.
The Cabinet meeting, presided by Chief Minister O Ibobi, discussed the functioning of Autonomous District Councils (ADCs).
Besides 26 departments in which the ADCs are empowered, other
departments will also empowered. As of now no decision was taken
to devolve more powers to the ADC. However, the meeting decided
to devolve power systematically.
Former Chief Secretary Rakesh was also appointed as Chairman of State's 14th Finance Commission as decided by the Cabinet.
