New Zealand teen banned from using Facebook following sex with minor
Wellington, Mar. 13 : A 17-year-old who had sex with a girl four years younger to him has avoided a jail sentence, but has been banned from Facebook in New Zealand.
On October 13, Robert Graham Fraser, who was nearly 18, met with a 13-year-old girl on the social networking site.
The couple watched movies at his place and had sexual intercourse, the Palmerston North District Court heard.
Judge David Smith said the couple met through a mutual Facebook friend three months back and regularly met online, stuff.co.nz reports.
Fraser knew the girl was under age - it is illegal to have sex with anyone under 16.
On an unlawful sexual connection charge, Judge Smith imposed six months' community detention, 12 months' supervision and 100 hours' community work.
During his sentence Fraser cannot use the internet, contact the victim or be in the presence of anyone under 16, unless supervised by an approved person, the report added.
